Happy May Day!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

We had a wonderful trip to Washington last week.  Each day was packed from 7:00a.m. to 10:00p.m.  We saw so many beautiful buildings, memorials, monuments that were full of history about this great country, the United States. All that we saw and experienced in Washington will give new meaning and understanding to what we read in our history book. My Eighth Graders were amazing!  I received compliments about their good behavior from the flight attendants, both on the outbound and return flights.  Teachers from other schools on the trip also complimented their good behavior.  Needless to say, I am so proud of them!  Well done, Eighth Graders! You are the BEST!  ❤

I cannot believe that we are almost into the month of May, and that our beloved Eighth Graders will be leaving E.C.D.S., in June.  However, there is still much academic work to be accomplished during the month of May.

This week in literature, my Eighth Graders will continue reading Lord of the Flies.  They will start the study of A.P. Literary Devices. They will work on finishing their speeches and their Career Projects. They will also work in their grammar and punctuation workbooks.  In addition to this, they will return to their study of Poetry.

This week in history, my Eighth Graders will finish reading Chapter 7 of the history book, and they will takes notes.  In addition to this, they will watching documentary series: The Founding Fathers.

Important Reminders:

  • The Monthly Assembly will take place on Friday, 3, at 9:00a.m., in the Amphitheater.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 17 in Wordly Wise, on Friday, May 3.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 17 of Wordly Wise for Friday.

The first duty of educators is to stir up interest in their students, and leave it free to develop.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a grand week ahead.
