Spring Break!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

The “Standardized Testing” went well for my Eighth Graders, and they are all glad that they are finished. 🙂

Last week in literature, my Eighth Graders continued reading Lord of the Flies by William Golding. They also took notes about Logos and Ethos and how to apply it to literature, in particular.  In addition to this, they worked on writing their Speeches.  They also watched the next installment of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

This week in literature, my Eighth Graders will continue reading Lord of the Flies.  They will finish their study of Night by Elie Wiesel. They will work on writing their speeches, and finish their Career Projects.  They will start A.P. Literary Terms.  They will work in their grammar and punctuation workbooks.  In addition to this, they will watch the next installment of Fahrenheit 451, which they are enjoying.

Last week in history, my Eighth Graders commenced reading Chapter 7, which deals with foreign affairs in the New Republic.  They also continued to watch the documentary series: The Founding Fathers, which is extremely well done, and includes reenactments of battles and important events in American history.

This week in history, my Eighth Graders will finish reading Chapter 7 of the history book, and they will takes notes.  They will review for the History Test of Chapter 6, which will be given on Wednesday, April 10.  In addition to this, they will continue to watch the documentary series: The Founding Fathers.
