Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all my Sixth Grade Parents who attended our Parent/Teacher Conferences last Thursday and Friday.  It was lovely to meet with you to discuss your child’s academic progress. 🙂

Last week in literature, my Sixth Graders continued reading The Tempest by William Shakespeare. They worked on their Persuasive Essays.  They returned to their study of Literary Devices.  They worked on their grammar and punctuation workbooks.  In addition to this, they watched the next installment of Jason and the Argonauts, which brings mythology to life.

This week in literature, my Sixth Graders will continue to read The Tempest by William Shakespeare.   They have read up to Act IV.  They will study characterization in The Tempest. They will finish writing their Persuasive Essays.  They will return to their study of Poetry.  They will work on their grammar and punctuation workbooks.  In addition to this, they will watch the next installment of Jason and the Argonauts, on Friday.

Reminders:

  • Our annual Jog-A-Thon will take place on Friday, March 22.  Anne Morasco needs more volunteers to help, so if you are available, please contact her.  Please remind your Sixth Grader to get their sponsors.  Many thanks! 🙂

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study the Literary Devices for the test on Tuesday, March 19.
  • Work on finishing your Persuasive Essay.  Due date is Thursday, March 21.
  • Rewrites of the Stage Plays are due this week.

The child who makes use of all that he finds around him, shapes himself for the future.

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead.  Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

Fondly,

Miss Susan 🙂
