Happy Veteran’s Day!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all our heroic Veterans, who have done so much for our country!  Your service, bravery, and dedication are greatly appreciated.  You are our heroes!  I wish all our E.C.D.S. families a Happy Veteran’s Day, on Sunday, November 11. 🙂

THANK YOU to all our parents who attended our Parent/Teacher Conferences, on Thursday and Friday.  It was lovely to meet up with you to discuss your children’s academic and social progress. 🙂

This past week in literature, my Seventh Graders continued to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.   They  continued to learn about “Two-Chunk-Paragraphs,” and applied it to Beowulf.  They worked on their grammar and punctuation workbooks.  In addition to this, they reviewed for the Literary Devices Test.  The majority of them scored A+’s/A’s on the Literary Devices Test.  Well done, Seventh Graders!  They did not have time for literature on DVD.

This week in literature, my Seventh Graders will continue to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  They will continue their study of “Two-Chunk-Paragraphs.”  They will learn the format for writing a screenplay, and begin work on writing a script.  They will watch the first installment of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Last week in History Class, my Seventh Grades commenced reading Chapter 4, which focused on, “China in the Middle Ages.”  Then, they reviewed for History Test 3.  They also watched two short history documentaries to reinforce their knowledge of the history in Chapter 3. They finished writing their historical plays.

This week in History Class, my Seventh Graders will finish reading Chapter 4, and take notes.  They will start “Current Affairs,” which is their project for November.

There is a certain enthusiasm in liberty, that makes human nature rise above itself, in acts of bravery and heroism. ~ Alexander Hamilton
