Another Great Week!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to Maria Ardantz for purchasing the supplies for our “Fall Center Piece,” and for giving up her time to work with my Seventh Graders, on Friday.  A fun time was had by all! 🙂

This past week in literature, my Seventh Graders continued to work on a Plot/Analysis Outline of Beowulf.  They commenced the reading of their next novel, Inside the Wall of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  In addition to this, they finished their study of Tennyson’s poem, “The Lady of Shalott.”  Then, they watched two short videos of the poem, which brought it to life for them.  They also worked in their grammar workbooks.  They also watched the first installment of Silas Marner by George Eliot for Literature on DVD.

This week, my Seventh Graders will continue with their reading of Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren, as they learn about Helen of Troy.  They will finish the outlines of Beowulf, and work on their Heroic Poems about Beowulf.  They will finish notes about Beowulf.  In addition to this, they will work on the grammar and punctuation/editing workbooks.  They will watch the next installment of Silas Marner by George Eliot.

Last week in History Class, my Seventh Graders commenced a collaborative project, in twos and threes, to write an historical play based on Chapters 1 and 2.  They must use real characters and real events for this project.  This week in History Class, my Seventh Graders will review for the Histroy Test, on Tuesday.  They will then read Chapter 3 of the history book, which focuses on Medieval Africa.
