Field Trip, on Tuesday!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

I am happy to report that the majority of my Seventh Graders scored high on  their Literary Terms Test, last Thursday.  Well done, Seventh Graders! 🙂 However, a few students forgot to study for the test, so I will allow a retake on Wednesday.  Please encourage your child to study for this test.  There will be no more retakes after this one.

Last week, my Seventh Graders started reading Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  They also worked on writing their poetry based on Beowulf, and they worked on their formal outlines of Beowulf.  In addition to this, they worked in their punctuation/editing workbooks, and they watched an installment of Emma by Jane Austen.

This coming week, my Seventh Graders will continue to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  They will finish writing their poems, and hopefully, finish writing their outlines of Beowulf.  Then, we will use the S.I.F.T. method to analyze Beowulf.  They will also return to reading Tennyson’s poem, “The Lady of Shalott.”  On Friday, they will watch another installment of Emma by Jane Austen.

A field trip is scheduled for Vertical Hold, in San Marcos, on Tuesday, October 17.  We will depart at 11:15a.m. (approximately), and return  at 2:30p.m.  Thank you so much to our drivers!

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Those who need to, study for the “retake” of the Literary Terms Test, for Wednesday, October 18.
  • Study for the spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 5 in Wordly Wise, on Thursday, October 19.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 5 of Wordly Wise, for Thursday.
  • The “Heroic Poems” are due on Friday, October 20.

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead!
