Graduation Week! Summer! Yahoo!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

Summer is fast approaching, as we move into our last week of school for this school year!  Graduation is finally here, and it is with a heavy heart that we must say “Goodbye,” to our Eighth Grade Graduates: Alex, Arman, Connor, John, Katya, Matthew, Ohm, and Smita.  We wish them all GREAT SUCCESS, as they move on to high school. ❤

This school year has gone by so fast, it is hard to believe that your Sixth Graders are only a week away from becoming Seventh Graders.  I am very proud of them, and I hope you are, too.  It has been a extremely happy, always inspiring, and very productive year with your children.  Their enthusiasm is a JOY!  They have worked hard, LAUGHED AND CHATTED A LOT, but nonetheless, learned much in all their Middle School classes.  THANK YOU for entrusting me and my colleagues with your children’s education.  It has been a pleasure and a blast to know, educate, and love them. ❤

I have finished correcting and grading my Sixth Graders’ “Children’s Books”  They took longer to correct than I had expected (two to two-and-a-half hours per student, and longer for the Seventh and Eighth Graders’ work).  They did a FANTASTIC JOB, and I am very proud of them!  It was lovely to work in conjunction with Mr. Joel, as he gave our students great insight into writing their Children’s Books from an author’s point of view. 🙂

THANK YOU to all our parents who drove on our field trip to the beach, on Thursday and Friday.  Our students had a GRAND time, and their behavior was SUPERB.  It was a great way to end the school year.  THANK YOU to Mrs. Coogan and Mr. Decking for organizing it. 🙂

A BIG THANK YOU to all our parents who drove on field trips throughout the year, and/or who helped with the many events and fundraisers at E.C.D.S.  Your participation, generosity, and time are very much appreciated. ❤

This last week of school will be a very busy week!  Our students will have “Final Tests” in all their classes from Monday through Wednesday.  They have received detailed guidelines from all their teachers, regarding these tests.  My Sixth Graders (Group 1) will have their final exam in English, on Monday morning, at 8:33a.m.-10:06a.m.  My Sixth Graders (Group 2) will have their final exam in English, on Tuesday afternoon from 12:27p.m. to 1:57p.m.

On Wednesday, the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Graders will have a music video showing in the library, at 11:30a.m.  This will be followed by their performance of Shakespeare’s, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in the amphitheater.  I hope that you will attend.

On Friday morning, there will be a pancake breakfast in Rooms 221 and 222.  Then, we will all go down to the field at 10:30a.m., to celebrate Fathers’ Day. ❤

I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and have a GRAND week ahead.

There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart. ~ Celia Thaxter

Fondly,

Miss Susan
