Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

The end of the school year is quickly approaching!  This week will be the last week for homework, apart from homework or tests that some students need to make up, due to absenteeism, illness, etc.  However, there will be “Final Tests” for three days, from Monday, June 12 to Wednesday, June 14.  Your child/teenager will be given a comprehensive guideline to study for the “Final Tests.”  So, no worries! 🙂

This coming week in literature, my Sixth Graders will analyze Tunes For Bears To Dance To, now that we have finished reading it.  I will read aloud the novel, Charley Skedaddle by Patrick Beatty, which is about a young boy who deserts the army during the American Civil War.  They will review Parts of Speech.  They will work in their grammar and editing workbooks.  They will continue to watch The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, for Literature on DVD.  They are enjoying this movie very much.

Reminder:

Field Day on Friday afternoon, June 2.  All parents and relatives are welcome to join us.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 16, on Wednesday, May 31.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 16 of Wordly Wise.
  • Please complete the CROSSWORD at the end of Lesson 16.
  • Rewrites of  your Children’s Books will be due on Thursday, June 1, at the latest.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead.

Sincerely,

Miss Susan ❤
