The Wizard of Oz!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

CONGRATULATIONS to all the ECDS students who participated in the Talent Show, on either Thursday or Friday of last week.  You all did an incredible job at demonstrating your wonderful talents.  Well done!  You were FABULOUS! 🙂

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Varma, who provided doughnuts last Friday, for all at ECDS, in honor of Smita’s fourteenth birthday.  It was a very welcome treat at the end of the week.  Many thanks! YUM! 🙂

This coming week in literature, my Seventh Graders will continue to read Greek Gods and Heroes.   They will also apply the S.I.F.T. Method of analysis (which they started last week) to Beowulf and Inside the Walls of Troy: S. (Symbolism), I. (Imagery), F. (Figurative Language), and T. (Themes and Tone).  They will work on their grammar and punctuation/editing workbooks.  They will review Literary Terms for their next test.  They will continue to watch Silas Marner by George Eliot, for Literature on DVD, as we did not have time for it last week.

This week in Drama Class, my Seventh Graders will continue with rehearsals for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, without using their scripts.  Please encourage your child to study his/her cues and lines.  The performance is scheduled for Wednesday, June 14, at 2:00p.m.

Reminders:

  • We look forward to seeing our mothers for a Mothers’ Day luncheon, on Friday, May 12.
  • The performances of The Wizard of Oz, which will commence on Friday evening, May 12, at 7:00p.m.  There will be two performances on Saturday, May 13.  It is an AMAZING SHOW!  Our ECDS students have worked extremely hard and are INCREDIBLE!
  • All ECDS students who are involved in The Wizard of Oz, are excused from homework and testing for my class, during the next two weeks.  However, all homework and tests will have to be completed after the show.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Please study your cues and lines for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
  • Study for the spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 17, in Wordly Wise, for Thursday, May 11.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 17 of Wordly Wise.
  • Work on the rewrites of your Children’s Chapter Books.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a grand week ahead.

Sincerely,

Miss Susan 🙂
