Celebrate “Spirit-Week-Style!”

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

This coming week in literature, my Seventh Graders will read about Hermes and Apollo, the story of Prometheus, and How Zeus and Hermes went visiting, in their new mythology book Tales of the Greek Heroes by Roger Lancelyn Green.  They will learn the C.R.C. Method for the analysis of literature and how to apply C. (Claim), R. (Reference), and C. (Commentary), with respect to The Importance of Being Earnest.  They will finish their “Children’s Chapter Books,” too.  In addition to this, they will work on their grammar and punctuation workbooks, and will return to their study of Literary Terms.  They will watch Silas Marner  by George Elliot, for Literature on DVD.

This week in Drama Class, my Seventh Graders will watch a video of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in order to inspire them with their parts in the play.  They will also begin rehearsals without using their scripts.

This coming week ECDS will be celebrating “Spirit-Week-Style.”  Teachers, faculty, staff, and students will show their spirit by wearing clothes according to the theme for each day.  However, please follow uniform guidelines with respect to modest dress.

Monday: Farmers’ Market ~ Dress in floral or bright colors.

Tuesday: Hawaiian Theme ~ Wear Hawaiian shirts.

Wednesday: Around the World ~ Wear hats or clothes from around the world.

Thursday: Sports Day ~ Wear sports jerseys or baseball hats.

Friday: Mardi Gras ~ Wear the colors purple, green, and gold.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study your cues and lines for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
  • Study the spelling/vocabulary of Lesson 15 in Wordly Wise, for Thursday, April 27.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 15 of Wordly Wise, for Thursday, April 27.
  • Finish your “Children’s Chapter Book,” for Friday, April 28.

Memory is the mother of all wisdom.  ~ Aeschylus
