Welcome Back To School!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

Welcome back to school!  I trust that you all had a wonderful Spring Break, and are well rested.  I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! 🙂  It is now time to gear up to return to school and your academics.  There is still much to read, discuss, analyze, write, explore, and discover, in order to be ready for high school.

This week, there will be make-up tests for any students who were sick or absent during the SAT-10 tests, which were given before the Spring Break.  Please remind me, on Monday, if you need to take any portion of the SAT-10 tests.  Thank you!

This coming week in literature, my Eighth Graders will return to the adventures of Odysseus, as he meets his son, Telemachus, after his long absence from home.  They will also continue to practice how to apply C. (Claim), R. (Reference), and C. (Commentary), with respect to The Odyssey.  They will work on finishing their “Novellas, too.  In addition to this, they will write the Amendments to The Constitution, in their own words.  They will also finish watching To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, for Literature on DVD.

This week in Drama Class, my Eighth Graders will rehearse for  A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  They have only one more week of using their scripts during rehearsals.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Work on finishing your novella.
  • Study your lines for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
  • Study the spelling/vocabulary of Lesson 14 in Wordly Wise, for Friday, April 28.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 14 of Wordly Wise, for Friday, April 28.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a grand week ahead.
