SAT-10 Testing!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all the parents who attended our Parent/Teacher Conferences, at ECDS, on Thursday and Friday of last week.  It was lovely to meet with you again, to discuss the academic and social progress of your child to date.

This week, the SAT-10 will begin on Tuesday, March 28, and will continue until Friday, March 31.  The tests will be given during the morning hours, so please make sure that your child arrives to school on time, in order to avoid any stress.   These tests are not difficult, however, your child will need a good night’s sleep every night, and a hearty breakfast each morning of the testing schedule, as this usually enhances test-taking skills.

This coming week in literature, my Seventh Graders will listen to the second part of Wings by Jane Jolen, which I started last week.  It is about Daedalus and Icarus, and the slaying of the Minotaur.  It is a great introduction to their next book, Greek Gods and Heroes. They will also work on the Children’s Chapter Books, and return to cursive writing.  In addition to this, they will start a Language Arts WebQuest about William Shakespeare. They will continue to enjoy watching The Importance of Being Earnest, for Literature on DVD.

Drama classes for this week have been cancelled due to testing.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Rewrites of the Screenplays are due on Monday, March 27.  Many students have missed last week’s due date.
  • Study for the spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 14 of Wordly Wise for Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 14 of Wordly Wise.
  • Work on your “Children’s Chapter Book.”

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a grand week ahead.

Sincerely,

Miss Susan 🙂
