Parent/Teacher Conferences!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all my Eighth Graders who ran or walked in the Jog-A-Thon, on Friday.  GREAT JOB!  I am so PROUD of you!  THANK YOU to all the parents who attended to help and support our students during the Jog-A-Thon. 🙂

This coming week in literature, my Eighth Graders will follow Telemachus from Sparta back to Ithaca, in their reading of The Odyssey.  On Monday, they will learn how to apply C. (Claim), R. (Reference), and C. (Commentary), with respect to the literature they have already read in class and The Odyssey.  They will work on their “Novellas,” on Tuesday and Wednesday.  They will also revisit “Proverbs” and “Literary Terms.”  In addition to this, they will review grammar and cursive.  On Thursday, they will return to Literature on DVD with To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Mr. Joel on Skype:  On Friday, Joel went into great detail about the importance of a great “Climax” to a story.  His advice is WONDERFUL!  GREAT JOB, JOEL! 🙂

My Eighth Graders are doing a great job with their parts in Shakespeare’s,  A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  This week in Drama Class, we will rehearse Scene 10, again, and Scenes 11 and 12. 🙂

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study for your Literary Terms Test, on Friday, March 24.
  • Finish Articles IV through VII of The Constitution, in your own words, for Friday.
  • Work on your Novella.
  • Complete Joel’s work for Friday.

Reminders:

  • Another “Book Fair” starts on Monday, March 20.
  • Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, March 23, and Friday, March 24.  I look forward to meeting with you again.

Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand. ~ Chinese Proverb

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead.

Sincerely,

Miss Susan 🙂
