Finals Week!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

Last week in literature, I read aloud the short story The Nightingale and the Rose by Oscar Wilde.  I didn’t quite finish it, so I will finish it on Monday. My Sixth Graders also worked in their grammar and their punctuation/editing workbooks.  They viewed the next four chapters of Jason and the Argonauts, on DVD.  I distributed a study guide for the Finals, and we examined the questions and answers together.  In addition to this, 95% of the class scored A+’s on the Literary Terms Test.  Well done, Sixth Graders!  I am so proud of you! 🙂

This week in literature, I will finish reading reading The Nightingale and the Rose by Oscar Wilde.  Then, we will discuss and analyze it.  On Monday and Tuesday, we will review for the Final Examination, which will include questions about Skellig by David Almond, Greek Gods and Heroes by Robert Graves, and Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.  My students will also be examined regarding the poetry they have read, discussed, and analyzed in class, i.e. “The Highwayman” by Alfred Noyes, “Remorse” by Truman P. Reitmeyer, “Little Boy Blue” by Eugene Field, “The Daffodils” by William Wordsworth, and “Upon Westminster Bridge” by William Wordsworth.  In addition, a variety of literary terms and spelling/vocabulary will be covered.

This week in Drama Class, my Sixth Graders commenced reading the play The Tempest by William Shakespeare.  This week, Drama Class is cancelled due to the Final Examinations.
