The Science Fair!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

Last week on my blog, I made an error regarding the Seventh Grade Homeroom Mom.  I apologize profusely to Kelly Bruce, who is the Homeroom Mom.  I was given the wrong information.  I am so sorry, Kelly!

Therefore, THANK YOU, to our great and very helpful Homeroom Mom, Kelly Bruce, for all that you did for us, during our First Semester of school, at ECDS. You are a gem! 🙂

Last week in literature, my Seventh Graders continued reading  Inside The Walls of Troy. In addition to this, they revisited the writing of their screenplays.  They worked on their punctuation/editing workbooks, reviewed the definition of Interjections, and we discussed the content of their Final Examinations for this semester.  The Wordly Wise spelling test and homework consumed all of Friday’s class, so, we didn’t have time to watch the next chapters of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

This week in literature, my Seventh Graders will continue to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  They will resume the writing of their screenplays.  They will return to their study of poetry and read “The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred Lord Tennyson.  They will review for the Literary Terms Test, which is scheduled on Thursday, January 12.   In addition to this, they will watch the next chapters of To Kill A Mockingbird.

On Tuesday, I will distribute a detailed guideline for the Final Examinations, which will refresh and remind my students of their former studies, during this first semester.

Last week in Drama Class, we blocked Scenes 2 and 3 of Shakespeare’s, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  This week, we will work on blocking two or three more scenes for our performance.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study for the Literary Terms Test, on Thursday, January 12.
  • Work on your Screenplays, which are due on Thursday, January 26 .

Reminders:

  • On Friday, January 6, I sent home large envelopes of all the tests and written work to date, from the Seventh Graders’ files.  Please sign the envelope, to assure me that you have received the work, and return the empty envelope to me, on Monday, January 9.  MANY THANKS!
  • The Annual Science Fair, will be held on Tuesday, January 10, from 1:15p.m. to 2:45p.m., in the Science Lab and Performing Arts room.  We look forward to seeing you.
  • The First Friday Assembly is scheduled for Friday, January 13.  All are welcome to attend.
  • Monday, January 16, we will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day.  Therefore, no school.
  • Finals will be given from January 25 to January 27 (change in the dates from the school calendar).
  • ECDS will host an Open House on Sunday, January 29, from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.  We hope that you will attend.
