Happy New Year!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

Happy New Year and Welcome Back to School!  I hope that this New Year will bring you all much love, happiness, smiles, success, laughter, good health, and surprises on a daily basis.  I hope that you all have had a wonderful Holiday Season with your families and friends, and that your children will return to school happy and rested.

Tomorrow, we will begin a new year in the education of your children.  They have a lot of new and exciting work to study, learn, research, ponder, explore, and discuss before June, 2017.

Bravo!/Congratulations!   A great performance was given by our Seventh Graders, during our annual Holiday Program.  Well done, Seventh Graders!  Great talent!  THANK YOU, Mrs. Crawford! 🙂

THANK YOU, to our wonderful and very helpful Homeroom Mom, Janet Lombardi, for all that you did for us, during our First Semester of school, at ECDS. You are a treasure! 🙂

This week in literature, my Seventh Graders will pick up where we left off in our reading of Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  They will return to the battlefields of Troy and learn about the heroic warriors who fought bravely until their sad deaths.

My Seventh Graders will also continue to work on their Screenplays both in class and at home.  In addition to this, they will return to their study of poetry, literary terms, and grammar.  They will also begin a review for “Finals,” which will be given from January 23 to January 25.  They will continue to watch To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, which they are enjoying immensely.

This week in Drama Class, we will work on blocking for our performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 8, in Wordly Wise, on Friday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 8 of Wordly Wise for Friday.
  • Screenplays are due on Thursday, January 26 .

  • On Friday, January 6, I will send home large envelopes of all the work to date, from the Seventh Graders’ files.  Please sign the envelope, to assure me that you have received the work, and return the empty envelope to me, on Monday, January 9.  MANY THANKS!
  • The Annual Science Fair, will be held on Tuesday, January 10, from 1:15p.m. to 2:45p.m., in the Science Lab and Performing Arts room.
  • The First Friday Assembly is scheduled for Friday, January 13.
  • Monday, January 16, we will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day.  Therefore, no school.
  • Finals will be given from January 23 to January 25.
  • ECDS will host an Open House on Sunday, January 29, from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.
