Encinitas Holiday Parade!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

I trust that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your families and friends, and that you will enjoy what remains of this holiday.  I wish a safe journey home to all our ECDS families who will have to brave the heavy holiday traffic and busy airports today.

THANK YOU to all the parents who contributed to our great Thanksgiving Feast, last Wednesday. A special THANK YOU to Mr. Decking, who organized and directed our Middle School students to make three GREAT SOUPS. It was a GRAND FEAST! 🙂

A sad GOODBYE to Allie Kidd-Dragula, who left ECDS last Tuesday, November 22.  She will be greatly missed by her friends and teachers.  We wish her GREAT SUCCESS and HAPPINESS at her new school.  We love you, Allie! 🙂

Last week, I only had my Sixth Graders from Monday through Wednesday, so we were limited in our accomplishments due to lack of time, absenteeism, and the Thanksgiving Feast.  However, my Sixth Graders worked in their grammar and punctuation workbooks.  Many of my them finished their in-class example of how to write a Stage Play.

This week in literature, my students will continue to read Greek Gods and Heroes by Robert Graves. They will also work on writing their Stage Plays in class.  In addition to this, they will work in their grammar and punctuation workbooks.  They will also play the Grammar Game, and return to Literary Terms.

This week in Drama class, my Sixth Graders will rehearse for their play, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.  The date for the performance is Tuesday, December 13, at 2:30p.m. in the Amphitheater.  Please mark your calendars.

The Encinitas Holiday Parade will take place on Saturday, December 3, from 5:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.  THANK YOU to our faithful Susan Bachand, who has created a beautiful float for the parade, and has organized many of our ECDS students to participate on it. 🙂  Please come and support our ECDS students and school.  Many thanks!  You will receive more details about the parade in the ECDS Weekly Newsletter.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Work on the plot of your Stage Plays.
  • Please study your cues and lines for A Christmas Carol.

Books are the bees that carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind.  ~ James Russell Lowell

Enjoy the rest of your day and have a grand week ahead.

Miss Susan 🙂
