Encinitas Holiday Parade!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

I trust that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your families and friends, and that you will enjoy what remains of this holiday.  I wish a safe journey home to all our ECDS families who will have to brave the heavy holiday traffic and busy airports today.

THANK YOU to all the parents who contributed to our great Thanksgiving Feast, last Wednesday. A special THANK YOU to Mr. Decking, who organized and directed our Middle School students to make three GREAT SOUPS. It was a GRAND FEAST! 🙂

Last week, I only had my Seventh Graders from Monday through Wednesday, so we were limited in our accomplishments due to lack of time, absenteeism, and the Thanksgiving Feast.  However, my the majority of Seventh Graders scored A+’s on the retake of the Literary Terms Test.

This week in literature, my students will continue to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren. They will also work on the learning the format for a Screenplay.  In addition to this, they will work in their grammar and punctuation workbooks.

This week in Drama class, I hope to finish casting the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.  The casting is taking longer than anticipated.  Hopefully, all will receive a part they like, as all the parts in this drama are fun to play.

Reminder:

The Encinitas Holiday Parade will take place on Saturday, December 3, from 5:00p.m. to 7:30p.m.  THANK YOU to our faithful Susan Bachand, who has created a beautiful float for the parade, and has organized many of our ECDS students to participate on it. 🙂  Please come and support our ECDS students and school.  Many thanks!  You will receive more details about the parade in the ECDS Weekly Newsletter.

This week, I am giving an extra day for Wordly Wise homework, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Work on the plot of your Screenplay.
  • Spelling/vocabulary of Lesson 7 for Friday, December 2.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 7 for Friday, December 2.

Books are the bees that carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind.  ~ James Russell Lowell

Enjoy the rest of your day and have a grand week ahead.

Sincerely,

Miss Susan 🙂
