Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the gift of your children.  They are very sweet, precious, and entertaining!!!  They bring joy to my world every day. They are a credit to you and your parenting skills.  I truly love every one of them! 🙂

THANK YOU to all our parents who attended the Parent/Teacher conferences last Thursday and Friday.  It was lovely to meet with you, and to discuss your child’s progress at ECDS. 🙂

THANK YOU to all our parents who donated books to my classroom library.  My students are excited about them.  It was very thoughtful of you, and I truly appreciate your generosity.  Many thanks! 🙂

This past week in literature, my Eighth Graders continued to read Night by Elie Wiesel, which is quite shocking, regarding the cruelty of the Nazis.  They also worked in their grammar workbooks, and they started their Career Projects.  They learned the format for a formal business letter, and then, they wrote one in class.

This week will be a very short week…Monday through Wednesday.  There will be a field trip to the Museum of Man, in Balboa Park, on Monday.  Therefore, there will be no time for academics.  However, the field trip will be fun and educational.  On Tuesday, my Eight Graders will be shown how to write a résumé.  Then, they will write one for themselves.  I will explain the procedure (after the Thanksgiving Break), to any student who is absent on Tuesday.  On Wednesday, my Eighth Graders will be busy serving the Thanksgiving Feast to the younger children at ECDS.  Then, they will participate in the feast, too.

There will be no homework during the Thanksgiving Break!  Relax!  Enjoy being with your children and your wonderful families. 🙂

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
