Thank You, to Our Veterans!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all our heroic Veterans, who have done so much for our country!  Their service, dedication, and bravery are greatly appreciated.  I wish all our ECDS families a Happy Veterans’ Day, on Friday, November 11.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Middle School “Students of the Month!” Smita Varna (8th Grade); Leela Walker (7th Grade); and Gwen Laats (6th Grade).  Well done!  You are all excellent students, and I am very proud of you! Keep up the GREAT WORK! 🙂

This past week in Literature, my Seventh Graders commenced reading Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  It is the story of the Trojan War told from two different perspectives.  I am happy to report that my students are enjoying it very much.  They also worked on finishing their Outlines of Beowulf.  Last Thursday, they took a six page Literature Review Quiz of Hamlet, and 87% of the class scored A+’s.  Well done, Seventh Graders!  I am so proud of you! 🙂

This coming week, my Seventh Graders will continue reading Inside the Walls of Troy.  They will also learn about camera angles, locations, and the format of a screenplay.  In addition to this, they will work in their grammar and paragraph-editing workbooks.  They will also study Literary Terms.

This week in Drama Class, I will begin the auditions for the parts in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, starting on Tuesday.  It should be a lot of fun.

Reminders:  No school on Friday, November 11.

Parent/Teacher Conferences on November 17 and 18.

The homework for this coming week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 6 in Wordly Wise.
  • Complete all the exercises of Lesson 6 in Wordly Wise
  • Drawings for your Outlines of Beowulf are due on Tuesday.
  • Work on your plot for a screenplay.

The words that enlighten the soul are more precious than jewels.

Sincerely,

Miss Susan 🙂
