Fall Festival!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

This past week in literature, my Eighth Graders finished reading Animal Farm by George Orwell.  They also worked on writing their formal outline of Animal Farm, and are now ready to tackle the “Climax” section of the outline.  In addition to this, they read the great poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred Lord Tennyson.  When we finished analyzing the poem, my Eighth Graders watched a video on their laptops, that depicted “The Charge of the Light Brigade,” and brought it to life for them.  They also watched Episode V of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and worked in their classroom workbooks.

This coming week, my Eighth Graders will study Animal Farm with respect to Themes, plot structure, characterization, symbols, motifs, etc.  My students will continue to work on the formal outline of Animal Farm, using their laptops.  The next book for reading is Night by Elie Wiesel. It is the story of a father and son’s journey through Hitler’s concentration camps.  We will commence reading it on Wednesday, October 26.  We will also continue our study of Literary Terms, in addition to our classroom workbooks.

Our annual “Fall Festival” will take place on Friday afternoon, October 28, from 2:00p.m. to 4:30p.m.  All are welcome to attend!  A great time is guaranteed!  THANK YOU to Anne Morasco and her PAC team.
