Spirit Week!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

The  Seventh Graders did a GRAND job in leading the Mass for the “Crowning of Mary” celebration, on Friday.  Well done, Seventh Graders and Miss Lida!  Great job, to my Eighth Graders, too, for leading the procession and crowning the three statues of Mary.

This week in literature, we will finish reading Tunes For Bears To Dance To by Robert Cormier. This week, we will continue to work on finishing our classroom workbooks.  We are making progress in that direction.  There will be no Wordly Wise homework this week, as my Sixth Graders will have a History Test, on Thursday, May 26,  instead.  I will continue to read children’s book each day, in order to prepare my Sixth Graders for writing their own children’s book.

Most of my Sixth Graders scored very high on the Renaissance Reading Test, this past week.  However, some of them rushed it, and will therefore, retake the test this coming week.

Please encourage your child to study for the History Test, for Thursday.  Many thanks!  This week in history, we will prepare for the test.  Then, we will finish two sections of  Chapter 8, which focuses on the origins of Buddhism.  In addition to this, my Sixth Graders will watch a historical documentary, which encompasses World Events of the 20th Century.

Reminder:

  • This coming week in Spirit Week!  Spirit Field Day will be celebrated on Friday, May 27.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Please study for the History Test, on Thursday, May 26.
  • Please work on your writing assignment, “Write a Children’s Book.”

The child is the hope and the promise for mankind.  ~ Maria Montessori

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
