The Crowning of Mary!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

CONGRATULATIONS to our OMMS students: Jenna Bell, Brooke Benjamin, Stella Ferro, and Athena Woessner, who all gave BRILLIANT PERFORMANCES in the show The Little Mermaid, last Tuesday, at The Star Theatre.  WHAT TALENT!  I was particularly blown away by Jenna, who was the STAR of the show.  WHAT AN AMAZING VOICE!

This week in literature, my Eighth Graders will continue to read Lord of the Flies by William Golding.  Then, they will discuss its themes, characterization, plot, etc.  In addition to this, they will return to the Cornell System of Note-Taking.  Last week, my Eighth Graders finished their Wordly Wise workbooks.  Yahoo!

This week in history, my Eighth Graders will prepare for the next History Test, which is scheduled for Monday, May 23.  In addition to this, they will read Chapter 10, which focuses on growing tensions over slavery.

This week in religion class, my Eighth Graders will finish Family Life.  We didn’t finish it last week, as planned, due to my absence.

Reminders:

  • The Crowning of Mary will take place on Friday, May 20, after Mass.  All are welcome to attend.
  • I need 25/30 photographs of your Graduate by May 31, please.
  • Please notify either Cheri Bell or Laura Visco, regarding the number of family members that you are expecting to attend the Graduation dinner.
  • The Disneyland tickets are paid in full!  THANK YOU!

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study the definitions for the next History Test, on Monday, May 23.
