May Day Is Fast Approaching!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

CONGRATULATIONS to all my SEVENTH GRADERS and to MISS LIDA on the GREAT INVENTIONS/ART FAIR!  Well done! Superb job!

I am happy to report that A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare is almost fully cast with my Seventh Graders.  We had our first official rehearsal on Friday, and we blocked the first three scenes.   I hope to have time to rehearse at least twice a week for thirty minutes.  The play is scheduled for Monday, June 6, so please mark your calendars.

This week in literature, we commenced the reading of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.  We will discuss its themes, characters, humor, etc., as we continue to read the play, each day during class.   This week, we will finish watching the DVD,  The Brothers Grimm.  In addition to this, I will distribute the guidelines for the next writing assignment, “Design a Magazine.”

This week in history, my Seventh Graders will prepare for the next History Test (Chapter 20 ~ Part 2), which focuses on the American Revolution and American government in the New World.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 19 in Wordly Wise.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 19 of Wordly Wise.
  • Study your cues and lines for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
  • Start your Magazine Project.

Have a GRAND week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
