Science Inventions/Art Fair!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all our parents who attended Maria Montessori/Shadow Day on Friday, April 15.  It was lovely to see so many parents accompany their children at school, as it means so much to them.  Sixth Graders, you did a GREAT JOB in presenting your power points and fables.  I am so proud of you!♥

I am back on Word Press for the moment, as I cannot batch e-mail from Sycamore, as the page is locked.  I apologize for not being able to send out last week’s blog to you.  I will continue to use Word Press until the problem is fixed.

This coming week in Literature, my Sixth Graders will continue to read Tunes For Bears To Dance To by Robert Cormier.  It is a story about friendship, loyalty, love, responsibility, owning up to one’s mistakes, and survival.  In addition to this, my students will continue to work in their journals and with the computer.  They will also work in their  cursive books, to help improve their cursive skills. Some rewrites for the Stage Plays are still past due.  Please remind your child about this issue.  Thank you.

I am happy to report that the majority of my Sixth Graders scored A+’s/A’s on the Literary Terms Test on Thursday.  Great job, Sixth Graders! I am so proud of you!  This week in grammar, the focus will be “verbs and adverbs.”  We will return to Wordly Wise homework this week.

This week in history, we will prepare for the next History Test (TBA).  In addition to this, we will watch short documentaries about Hinduism and India.

Reminders:

1. The Science Invention/Art Fair will take place on THURSDAY, April 21.

2.  Sixth Grade Camp commences on Monday, April 25.

The homework for this coming week is as follows:

  • Spelling Test of Lesson 17 in Wordly Wise on Wednesday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 17 of Wordly Wise
  • Write up your history definitions.

The child, in fact, once he feels sure of himself, will no longer seek approval of authority at every step.  ~ Maria Montessori

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
