Science Inventions/Art Fair!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to al our parents who attended Maria Montessori Shadow Day, on Friday, April 15.  It was lovely to see so many parents accompany their children at school, as it means so much to them.  Eighth Graders, you did an excellent job with your power point presentations.  Well done!  I am so proud of you!♥

This week in literature, my Eighth Graders will finish reading The Odyssey.  Then, they will discuss and take notes regarding The Odyssey, and they will watch a movie of it, which will bring the book to life.  They now have a new worbook about The Odyssey which reinforces the story, themes, characters etc.  In addition to this, they will continue to work in their classroom workbooks.  The next writing assignment is “Write a Speech.”  This week, we will begin the study of how to write a speech, in preparation for Speech Night, in May, as I had to postpone this activity last week, due to work on the presentations for Maria Montessori Shadow Day.

This week in history, my Eighth Graders will prepare for their next History Test.  In addition to this, they will watch history documentaries about The American Revolution.

This week, Family Life will address controversial issues in society.

Reminder:

  1. The Science Inventions/Art Fair will take place on Thursday, April 21, at 6:30p.m. in the Serra Center.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Study for the spelling/vocabulary test in Lesson 18 of Wordly Wise, for Friday, April 22.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 18 of Wordly Wise.
  • Study the SAT spelling and vocabulary, for Friday.

The child, in fact, once he feels sure of himself, will no longer seek approval of authority at every step.  ~ Maria Montessori

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and have a GRAND week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
