Thank You!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

I trust that you al had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends, and that you will enjoy what remains of this Thanksgiving weekend.  I wish a safe trip home to all our OMMS families, who will have to brave the heavy traffic on Sunday.

THANK YOU to all our parents for your donations of food and drink items for our Thanksgiving basket.  Our “family in need” had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner because of your generous hearts.  THANK YOU to all my Eighth Graders and to my faithful OMMS alumni,  Ruben Beltran, Chris Ontiveros, and Jimmy Spong , who cheerfully helped to move all the Thanksgiving baskets to Social Concerns and to the Military drop zone.  They all worked together in effective teams and were wonderful.  I am so proud of you all!  Thank you!

This week in literature, my Eighth Graders will continue to read Night by Elie Wiesel.  In addition to this, they will work in their comprehension and grammar workbooks.  Last Tuesday, I distributed the guidelines for the Career Project, so we will go over the guidelines in class and begin working on this project this week.

This week in history, my Eighth Graders will finish reading the Twenty-Seven Amendments to The Constitution.  Then, they will write the amendments in their own words.

During our religious studies, my Eighth Graders will explore how the Catholic Church dealt with the Great Schism of the West, and how the Renaissance and Humanism influenced the Church.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 9 in Wordly Wise, on Friday.
  • Study your SAT words for Friday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 9 of Wordly Wise.
  • Write a summary of Career 1 for Monday, December 7.

Books are bees that carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind.  ~ James Russell Lowell

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a grand week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan:)
