Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

Our Middle School was a GRAND success on Friday evening!  All who attended had a blast!  A BIG THANK YOU to our Mr. Sergio Mora, who was our super D.J.  He played great music, which our students enjoyed.  THANK YOU to Mrs. King who provided us with very cool floor and ceiling lights, which truly created a perfect atmosphere for the dance.  THANK YOU to our Student Council members and Linda Belhumeur who worked with me to decorate the St. Francis Hall.  THANK YOU to Shannon Morse who operated the Face Painting table.  THANK YOU to Annie Nugent who lent us a disco ball for the Face Painting table.  THANK YOU to all our parents who very generously donated pizzas and other food and drink items for the Refreshment Booth; special thanks to the Cristobel, Garcia, and Silva/Takamori families.  THANK YOU to wonderful Michelle Acosta and Daniella Hartnett who ran the Refreshment Booth.  THANK YOU to our competent alumnus, Michael Visco, and his mother, Laura Visco, who manned the door.  THANK YOU to our dedicated chaperones: Lisa Caso, Mary Ann Cristobel, Mrs. King, Maria Mahaffey, Jane Morse, Nicki Nugent, Susan Pilotte, and her sweet mother.  THANK YOU to all our great parents and OMMS students who helped with the clean-up.  THANK YOU to our reliable OMMS alumni who also chaperoned; Gianna Acosta, Julian Betancourt, and Anna Davis.  A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to our Student Council President, Anthony Visco, who meticulously organized the flyer, decorations, and donations for the dance.  GREAT JOB!  I am so proud of you all!  It takes a village to put on a Middle School Dance, but it is well worth it!

This past week in Literature, my Seventh Graders commenced their reading of Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren, and they appear to be enjoying it.  I am happy to report that the scores for Shakespeare’s Hamlet (44 questions) were extremely high.  Well done, Seventh Graders!  In addition to this, they were given a new classroom comprehension workbook, which focuses on Greek mythology.  This week, they will continue their study of how to write a screenplay.

This past week, 60% of my Seventh Graders scored A+’s on their Literary Terms Test.  Well done, Seventh Graders!  Those who did not score well, did not study for the test.  Please take your child’s cell phone from them one hour after school, as constant cell phone interaction after school is interfering with your child’s academic studies.  Thank you!

The next History Test  (Chapter 16) will be given on Tuesday, November 24.  Please encourage your child to study for this test.  Thank you!  After Thanksgiving, the next chapter in history will focus on The Renaissance.

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~ President John F. Kennedy

Dear Parents, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the gift of your children every day.  They bring joy to my world, and they are a credit to you. I truly love them!   HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  RELAX!  ENJOY YOUR PRECIOUS FAMILIES!
