Student Council Campaign Week!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all the parents and students who were responsible for the wonderful decorations in my classroom yesterday morning.  THANK YOU all so much for the beautiful cards and lovely birthday wishes.  THANK YOU for the many beautiful flowers, the Roca and Ferrero chocolates(YUM!), the Starbucks cards…(one of my favorite places), and for the big birthday cake which was delicious, and enjoyed by all the Middle School students and teachers!  THANK YOU, Shannon, for the amazing drawing of Mother Earth. It is a treasure! I feel so lucky to have such loving, thoughtful, and generous parents and students.  An extra special THANK YOU to Michelle Acosta, Cheri Bell, Cynthia Gilbertson, Jane Morse, and Laura Visco.  You made my day feel very SPECIAL!

I am happy to report that my Seventh Graders scored very high on both their Wordly Wise homework and spelling/vocabulary test this week.  I am so proud of them!  I am happy to report that they are enjoying Beowulf by Robert Nye.  Yahoo! This past week, I added a grammar workbook to their classroom workbooks.  The first writing assignment “Write a Myth or Legend” is due on Tuesday, September 24.  They have detailed guidelines to help them.  I have read many myths and legends aloud in class in preparation for this assignment.  We will start literature on DVD on Friday.

This past week in history, my Seventh Graders read about European Feudalism.  Next week, they will watch documentaries in order to bring this history to life.  The first “History Test” will take place on Thursday, October 1.  I will cancel Wordly Wise homework the week of the History Test, to allow the Seventh Graders the time to study for it.  Please encourage your child to study.  Many thanks!

Reminders:

  • This coming week is Campaign Week for the Student Council.  Students who are running for a position on the Student Council will deliver their speeches at an assembly on Monday, in the Serra Center, at 10:00a.m.
