A Great Start, 7th Graders!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

The Seventh Graders have settled back nicely into their Middle School routines, despite the oppressive weather. I am happy to report that they scored extremely high on their spelling/vocabulary test on Thursday.  I am so proud of them! Keep up the great work, Seventh Graders!

This past week, my Seventh Graders continued to read Beowulf by Robert Nye.  In addition to this, the Seventh Graders started work in class, in the new grammar workbooks.   This past week, I read aloud three myths and two legends.  This coming week, I will read more myths and legends to them, in preparation for their first writing assignment, Write a Myth or Legend, which will be due on Thursday, September 24.

Due to the short week, an assembly,  and the weather, we did not have time for Social Studies last week.  We will start the medieval history of Europe on Monday.   The first History Test will take place on Thursday, October 1.  Please encourage your child to study for it.  Many thanks!

  • The applications for the Student Council will be available in the office on Monday, September 14, and should be returned to the office on Friday, September 18.
  • The PTG General Meeting has been moved to Wednesday, September 23, instead of September 16.  It will take place in the St. Francis Hall, at 6:30p.m.  Please mark your calendars.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 2 in Wordly Wise on Thursday, September 17.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 2 of Wordly Wise for Thursday.
  • Write up the definitions and questions/answers from Chapter 14 of your history book.
  • Study the definitions and questions/answers in your history notebooks, in preparation for the History Test, on Thursday, October 1.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and have a GRAND week ahead.
