Graduation Week! Yahoo!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

Graduation is finally here, and it is with a very heavy heart that I must say “Goodbye” to my precious Eighth Graders, Aileen, Anna, Ashley, Carolynn, Elise, Gianna, Jaden, and Julian.  This past school year has gone by so fast, it is hard to believe that my Eighth Graders will be graduating on Tuesday evening, and leaving O.M.M.S. this week.  The cliche, “Time flies when you’re having fun,” is true.  It has been a very happy, inspiring, and productive year with my Eighth Graders.  They have worked extremely hard and have learned much in all of their Middle School classes, and you should be VERY PROUD of them.  They have been OUTSTANDING STUDENTS and EXCELLENT ROLE MODELS!  I will miss them all very much next year, especially, their smiling faces, their good cheer, and their hilarious conversations every morning.  They are an EXTREMELY SPECIAL GROUP!  THANK YOU for entrusting me, and my colleagues, with their education.  It has been a great pleasure and privilege to educate, know, and love each one of them.  They are such an important part of my life!♥

THANK YOU to my Homeroom Mom, MICHELLE ACOSTA.  You blow me away, with all that you do for us.  You do everything with a great smile and incredible enthusiasm.  You have done an AMAZING JOB in organizing the GRADUATION!  You move with speed, efficiency, and determination.  You amaze me!  You have been a great leader for all our parents, in inspiring them to work for you and their teenagers, to make this Graduation so special.♥

THANK YOU to all my EIGHTH GRADE PARENTS for helping MICHELLE in the various tasks that have been assigned to you all for the GRADUATION.  THANK YOU to the SEVENTH GRADE parents, as I know that you are involved in our Graduation.  I know that Tuesday evening will be a very special event in our teenagers’ lives.  I truly appreciate all that you have done this past school year.  MANY, MANY, MANY  THANKS!  YOU ARE ALL WONDERFUL PARENTS!♥

Congratulations to my Eighth Graders, who gave a SUPERB performance in Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, last Monday evening.  SUPERB JOB: Aileen, Anna, Ashley, Carolynn, Elise, Gianna, and Julian.   You were highly entertaining and extremely funny.  THANK YOU!♥

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to Gianna Acosta and Elise (E.J.) McKinsey, for being a GREAT President and a GREAT Vice-President of our Student Council, this past school year.  You were highly organized, creative, and enthusiastic!  You did a GRAND job!  Well done!  I am so proud of you!♥

THANK YOU to Mr. Raphael Acosta for visiting our classroom last Tuesday, to discuss the work of an attorney.  In addition to this, he gave a riveting speech about college, life in general, the pitfalls that may happen in life, and how to recover from pitfalls.  He shared charts, photographs, and a short video, which enhanced his presentation even more.  His wonderful advice and extensive knowledge left my Eighth Graders spellbound.

THANK YOU to Mr. Bill Young II (Ashley’s grandfather), for visiting our classroom last Thursday, to discuss his role in the movie industry in Hollywood.  He spent fifty years in the film business, and even moved to England for nine years to oversee work on the Harry Potter movies.  He brought a photo album from Harry Potter, and many samples of his memorabilia to share with my Eighth Graders, which they enjoyed very much.

Last Thursday, I sent home the second packet of work from your teenagers’ files.  Please sign the envelope and return it to me on Monday, so I know that you have received it.  If nothing else, please keep their Pride and Prejudice Projects, the Career Projects, The Constitution and The Amendments in their own words, and their Wordly Wise workbooks, as they might come in handy in high school.  Most of the vocabulary in the Wordly Wise will be on the SAT test in their Junior Year.  Some students have a little work left to do in their workbooks.  It would be good for them to finish the work in August.  Right now, their brains need a BREAK from school work.  However, I highly recommend that they READ FOR PLEASURE during the summer months, as it is the best aerobics for the development of their brains.

The schedule for this week is as follows:
