Graduation Mass!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

Summer is fast approaching, as we move towards the end of our school year…just two more weeks left!  My Sixth Graders have been a VERY CHATTY AND SWEET class, but they have worked very hard this past school year, and I am so happy with their academic growth and progress.  I am very proud of you!  Great job, Sixth Graders!♥

Sadly, O.M.M.S. students, faculty, staff, and parents will honor and say “Goodbye” to our wonderful Eighth Graders, at our final school/Graduation Mass for this school year, on Friday, June 5.♥  We wish Aileen, Anna, Ashley, Carolynn, Elise, Gianna, Jaden, and Julian great success and happiness, as they move forward into the next chapter of their education…high school.  We will miss them very much next year, but we will continue to treasure and love them forever.♥

This week in literature, my Sixth Graders will discuss the theme, characters, and plot of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.  In addition to this, they will continue to work on finishing their grammar, analogies, and punctuation classroom workbooks.  I am happy to report that all the Sixth Graders scored A+’s on the History Test last Wednesday.  We will finish Lesson 20 of Wordly Wise in class on Thursday.  Then, we will have a memory game with spelling and vocabulary.

This week in history, the Sixth Graders will finish reading Chapter 11, which focuses on “Chinese Society and Thought.”  The Literary Terms Test will be given on Wednesday, June 3.  This last test was assigned three weeks ago.  Please encourage your child to study for it.  Many thanks!

This is the last week for homework!  Yahoo!  The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study for the Literary Terms Test on Wednesday, June 3.
  • Please turn in any other rewrites that are past due.  Many thanks!

  • The Seventh Grade play A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, will be performed on Monday evening, June 1, in the St. Francis Hall, at 6:30p.m.  I have asked the Sixth Graders to attend, if possible, so they may get an idea of what part they might like to play next year.  All are welcome to attend.
  • The Graduation Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 5, at 11:00a.m., in the chapel. All are welcome to attend.
  • The work from your child’s file will go home on Friday, June 5.  Please sign and return the empty envelope to me, on June 9.  Many thanks!
  • The Student Council party will take place on Thursday, June 4.
  • School Reports will be mailed out from the office, on Tuesday, June 16.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead!
