Happy Memorial Day!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

Last week’s Spirit Week was a lot of fun, especially, with the culmination of our Spirit Field Day on Friday.  THANK YOU to all our parents who donated food and their free time to serve lunch, and help with the games, in order to make our Spirit Field Day so special for our O.M.M.S. students.  A GRAND TIME was had by all!  FUN! LAUGHTER! DANCING!  A special THANK YOU to Coach Powell, who organized the event.  THANK YOU to all my Eighth Graders who controlled the music, and THANK YOU to Julian Betancourt, who was our wonderful M.C.

The school year is very quickly coming to an end, and we are almost finished our curriculum.  So, hang in there, Seventh Graders!  This week in literature, the Seventh Graders will spend their time preparing for the play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.  Wordly Wise homework is postponed for this week, as I want my Seventh Graders to study their cues and lines, so they will enjoy their performances.  Please remind your child to learn his/her cues and lines, as we are expecting a large audience.  We will work on finishing the classroom workbooks next week after the play.  Many students have already completed some of their workbooks.  The last writing assignment (poetry) will be done in class, instead of homework, as my students’ heads are naturally at the beach and focused on their summer vacation.  Your child’s work from his/her file will go home at the end of the first week in June.

This week, there will be no history classes, as we will be rehearsing for our play.

We still miss our beloved Anthony Visco every day, but we are looking forward to his presence and performance in our play on June 1.

  • Night at The Mission will take place on Thursday, May 28.  THANK YOU, Michelle Shebest and the PTG.
  • Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed by my Seventh Graders on June 1, at 6:30p.m. in the St. Francis Hall.
  • The Jazz Dance Recital is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, in the St. Francis Hall, at 1:30 p.m.  All are welcome to attend.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Please study your cues and lines for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
  • Turn in any rewrites that are past due.

Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world. ~ Maria Montessori

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and have a very Happy Memorial Day with your families.
