Happy Memorial Day!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

Last week’s Spirit Week was a lot of fun, especially, with the culmination of our Spirit Field Day, on Friday.  THANK YOU to all our parents who donated food and their free time to serve lunch, and help with the games, in order to make Spirit Field Day so special for our students.  A GRAND TIME was had by all!  FUN! LAUGHTER! DANCING!  A special THANK YOU to Coach Powell who organized the event.  THANK YOU to my Eighth Graders who controlled the music, and THANK YOU to Julian Betancourt who was our wonderful M.C.

The school year is very quickly coming to an end, and we are almost finished our curriculum.  So, hang in there, Sixth Graders!  This week in literature, I will we will finish reading Tunes For Bears To Dance To by Robert Cormier.  I will also read aloud A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, my Sixth Graders will understand the play, if they attend the performance on June 1.  We will continue to work on finishing the classroom workbooks this week and next week.  Many students have already completed some of their workbooks.  Your child’s work from his/her file will go home at the end of the first week in June.

This week in history, the Sixth graders will read Chapter 11, which encompasses “Chinese Society and Thought.”  The last History Test (Chapter 8) will be given on Wednesday, May 6.  We reviewed the definitions last week, so, we will review the questions on Tuesday.  This will be an open book/open notes test, so, no stress.

  • The Seventh/Eighth Graders will perform A midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, in the St. Francis Hall, on Monday, June 1, at 6:30 P.M.  All are welcome to attend.
  • The Jazz Dance Recital is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, in the St. Francis Hall, at 1:30 p.m.  All are welcome to attend.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 19, in Wordly Wise, in Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 19 of Wordly Wise for Thursday.
  • Prepare for the Literary Terms Test, on Wednesday, June 3.

Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world. ~ Maria Montessori
