Spirit Week!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

CONGRATULATIONS to all the OMMS students who participated in the Variety Show on Wednesday evening, May 13.  SUCH WONDERFUL TALENT!  GREAT JOB!  THANK YOU to Mr. Tom Satterfield for hosting the event.

This week in literature, my Sixth Graders will continue to read Tunes For Bears To Dance To by Robert Cormier.  In addition to this, they will continue to work in the classroom workbooks, in the hope of finishing them by the end of the school year.  We will also review the Literary Terms again, in preparation for the next test, which will be given on Wednesday, June 3.  The guidelines for the next writing assignment  “Write a Narrative Poem, will be distributed on Monday.  I have changed the homework day for Wordly Wise from Wednesday to Thursday for the rest of the school year, in order to give my Sixth Graders an extra day to complete their work.  Summer and the end of the school year is fast approaching, and it is hard for my students to remain focused, as the beach beckons in the background.

Last week in history, my Sixth Graders watched an hour long documentary about India and its people and traditions.  This week in history, they will prepare for the last History Test, which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27.  This will be an open notes test, as many students blow off the last test, which can negatively affect their history grade.  They will also continue to read from their history books, and learn about the Chinese civilization.

Reminders: Spirit Week:
