Happy Mothers’ Day!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

HAPPY MOTHERS’ DAY!  I hope all our mothers at O.M.M.S., have had a very happy and special day, full of love, fun, surprises, and lots of laughter.  You are all AMAZING MOTHERS!  Every day, but especially today, MOTHERS’ DAY, you deserved to be pampered and put up on a pedestal of happiness and love.  ENJOY!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all my parents and students who, during Teachers’ Appreciation Week, showered me with daily delicious cookie treats, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate, a Starbucks thermos, a Starbucks breakfast, Starbucks cards, a beautiful rose plant, a highlighter, cool water, and very clever and funny puns.  I felt so special and so surprised each day during Teachers’ Appreciation Week.   MANY THANKS!  THANK YOU also to the PTG and parents who organized and brought breakfast treats for us every day, and an amazing luncheon on Friday.  Everything was delicious, sweet, and delighted all the teachers at OMMS.  We truly appreciate your very generous and thoughtful hearts.  THANK YOU!

Another BIG THANK YOU to Michelle Acosta and Jud Fidellow, who drove on our field trip on Friday.  A GRAND TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!  THANK YOU also to Jud Fidellow who provided lunch certificates for The Habit, for all our Eighth Graders.

This week in literature, we will continue to read Lord of the Flies by William Golding.  In addition to this, we will continue to work in the classroom workbooks.  We will also review the Literary Terms, in preparation for one more test, which will be given during the first week of June.  This week, my Eighth Graders hope to finish writing The Constitution in their own words. Their speeches are due on Monday, May 11.

I am happy to report that the majority of my Eighth Graders scored A’s and A+’s on their History Tests last week.  Yahoo!  Well done!  This week in history, they will finish reading Chapter 7, about the Industrial Revolution.

This week, Family Life will address “The Social Scene, The Right Companions, Social Networking, and Practicing Social Skills.”

1. The annual Variety Show is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13.  All are welcome to attend.

2. The Crowning of Mary will take place after Mass on Friday, May 15.  All are welcome to attend.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Speeches are due on Monday, May 11.
  • Spelling Test of Lesson 19 in Wordly Wise on Thursday, May 14.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 19 of Wordly Wise for Thursday.
  • SAT words for Thursday.
  • Please study your cues and lines every night.

All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.

Enjoy the rest of your special day, Mothers, and have a grand week ahead.
