Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

Last week in literature, the Eighth Graders continued to read about the adventures of Odysseus. Last week, Odysseus was reunited with his son, Telemachus.  This week, Odysseus will make a plan about how to deal with the suitors who have taken over his home.  In addition to this, the Eighth Graders will correct and polish their power point projects, and continue their study of Edgar Allan Poe.

This week in history, the Eighth Graders will review Chapter 5 for their next History Test, on Monday, March 30.  Please encourage your teenager to study for this test. Thank you.  In addition to this, they will start Chapter 6, which focuses on “Building a National Identity.” If time permits, they will watch history documentaries to bring the history to life.

This past week in Family Life, the Eighth Graders read about different types of personalities.  This coming week, in Family Life, the concentration will be on their emotions.

Reminders:

1. Maria Montessori Day/Shadow Day will take place on Friday, March 20. This day is extra special this year, because for most of you, it will be your last Shadow Day at O.M.M.S.  I look forward to seeing you all, then, and I hope that you have enjoyed the journey with your teenager.

2. Don’t forget to order your Yearbook 2015, in order to avoid disappointment.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Finish your power point project for Monday, March 16.
  • Finish writing up your history notes.

The happiest life is that which constantly exercises and educates what is best in us. ~ Hamerton

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead.  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
