No School on Friday!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all the parents who attended the Graduation meeting last Tuesday. It was very productive, and I think we are on the right track to having a great Graduation for our precious Eighth Graders.

This past week in literature, the Eighth Graders followed Odysseus, as he returned to his kingdom in Ithaca, but could not return to his family.  This week in literature, they will continue to read The Odyssey, and learn more about the art of xenia, while studying the cunning intellect of Odysseus.  In addition to this, my Eighth Graders will work on their power point projects and their grammar workbooks, in class.  Today, my Eighth Graders convinced me to allow them to watch West Side Story, as a follow up to Romeo and Juliet, for Literature on DVD, as they were not in the mood for Julius Caesar, yet.

This week in history, my Eighth Graders will prepare for the next History Test.  If time permits, we will watch short history documentaries about the United States, in order to bring the history to life.

This past week, during Family Life, the Eighth Graders read and discussed the idea of a moral compass.  This coming week, we will discuss “God’s Gift of Self.”

1. It is not too late to order your Yearbook for 2015.  You may send in your orders or love notes to me and I will process them.

2.  No school on Friday, March 13, due to Professional Growth Day.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Finish your power point project for Thursday.
  • Some students still need to turn in the Twenty-Seven Amendments.

Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood.  ~ Marie Curie

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead.
