The Brink of March!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

I can’t believe that we are on the brink of March already!  Time flies when you’re having fun!  This week in literature, the Seventh Graders will read the poetry of Alfred Lord Tennyson, in conjunction with the Smart Board.  In addition to this, they will return to their study of Literary Terms.  They will continue to work in their in-class comprehension, grammar, and note-taking workbooks.  They will also work on their power-point projects, using our lovely new Apple computers.  This past week, I distributed the guidelines for the next writing assignment, which is a reaction paper about The Trojan War.  Today, for Literature on DVD, we started to watch Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë.

I am very happy to report that the majority of my Seventh Graders scored A’s and A+’s on the History Test on Wednesday.  I am so proud of them!  Well done, Seventh Graders.  This week in history, my Seventh Graders will finish Chapter 20, of their history book, which concentrates on the origins of the scientific revolution.  In addition to this, they will watch history documentaries in order to bring this history to life.

Reminders:

1. Please order your Yearbook 2015, in order to avoid disappointment ($45).

2. No school on Friday, March 13, due to Professional Growth Day for Teachers.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 14 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 14  of Wordly Wise for Thursday.
  • Work on your Trojan War reaction papers, which are due on March 12.
  • Work on your power-point projects, which are due on March 12.

Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood.  ~ Marie Curie

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
