P.T.G. Meeting on Thursday!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

There will be a General P.T.G. meeting, on Thursday, February 26, in the St. Francis Hall, at 6:30 p.m.  I hope that you will attend. Thank you!

Last week in literature, when the Eighth Graders read The Odyssey, they were introduced to more gods, Penelope’s suitors, and Telemachus, the son of Odysseus. This week, they will continue to follow Odysseus on his adventures as he journeys home to Ithaca.  They will also continue their study of Literary Terms.  The three interviews for the Career Project are due on Monday, February 23.  They are past the due date.

Last week in history, my Eighth Graders watched the documentary The Children’s March, which is about the children’s march that took place in Birmingham, Alabama, during the 60’s.  Hopefully, they learned the importance of standing up for one’s rights, freedom, and equality.  This week in history, the Eighth Graders will watch a documentary about slavery, as they continue their study of “Black History.”  In addition to this, they will prepare for the History Test on Friday, which will take the place of the Wordly Wise homework.  Please encourage your teenager to study for this test.  Thank you.  The Eighth Graders will also start to write The Constitution during class time, with a partner.  They will start Chapter 5 of the history book, which focuses on “The Era of Thomas Jefferson.”

This week in religion, the Eighth Graders will continue to read the Family Life book.  The Serra Essays are due on Wednesday, February 25.  These essays are mandatory, so please remind your child (150-250 words).  Thank you!
