Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all our parents who accompanied us on our walk to the Canine Companions, and who drove for the field trip to the The Runyon Museum, last Monday.  I truly appreciate your time and participation.  Our students thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits and the hands-on activity.  Congratulations to all our students for being excellent role models.  Well done! I am so proud of you!  THANK YOU to Miss Lida for organizing this great field trip.  THANK YOU to Michelle Acosta for the great collage of photos of the field trip, that you gave to each of our Middle School teachers.  You are a GEM!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR O.M.M.S. UNDEFEATED JUNIOR VARSITY AND VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAMS, and to their coaches, DENISE MARQUEZ and JUD FIDELLOW, and their team moms, NICKI NUGENT and MICHELLE ACOSTA.  WOW!  GO KINGS!  GO CHAMPIONS!  WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!  THANK YOU!

This week in literature, the Sixth Graders will read about “The Birth of Hermes,” Orpheus,” and  “Deucalion’s Flood.”  After the Thanksgiving holiday, we will continue our reading of Greek Gods and Heroes by Robert Graves.  Some students still need to turn in the rewrites of their “Spooky Story,” along with their colored illustrations.  They were due on Friday, November 21, and should be turned in on Monday, November 24.

The Sixth Graders are doing an excellent job on their weekly spelling and vocabulary test, and on the Wordly Wise homework.  I am very pleased with their progress and their high grade scores.  Keep up the great work, Sixth Graders!

This week in history, we will prepare for the History Test of Chapter 3, which will take place on Thursday, December 4.  This will be the last History Test before the Christmas break.  The next chapter in our history book is about The Egyptians, which is always a favorite study for the Sixth Graders.

The Sixth Graders are having fun rehearsing for A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.  If possible, I would like someone to videotape the play on Monday, December 15, so if you know anybody in this field, please contact me.  Thank you.  I need old white “King Size” sheets to make new scenery for our play, so if anyone has old sheets that they want to donate, please contact me.  Thank you.

Reminders: There is no Wordly Wise homework for Thanksgiving week! However, if time permits, I have asked my Sixth Graders to study their cues and lines for A Christmas Carol, as we only have two weeks to rehearse for the play, after Thanksgiving.  Thank you.

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.  ~ John F. Kennedy

Dear Parents, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the gift of your children every day.  They bring joy to my world, and they are a credit to you.  I truly love them!  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  ENJOY!  RELAX!  HAVE FUN!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
