Mrs. Bush’s Mass on Friday!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all the parents who attended our Parent/Teacher conferences last Monday.  It was lovely to meet and chat with you about your children’s academic and social progress.  We had an great turnout.  Thank you!  We look forward to meeting with the rest of our parents for the second day of Parent/Teacher conferences on Friday afternoon, November 7, in Room 218.

Last week, the Seventh Graders finished hearing the story of Hamlet by William Shakespeare.  This week, they will take a fun test to review the important characters, action, and storyline.  They also finished reading the poem “The Lady of Shalott.”  This week, we will review the poem and its message.  The Seventh Graders returned to their study of “Literary Terms.”  They will have a Literary Terms Test on Monday, November 10.  Please encourage your child to study for this test.  Many thanks!

The Seventh Graders have turned in their Heroic Poems.  Some students have missed the deadline and need to turn in their poems on Monday.  The next writing assignment will be “Write a Screenplay.”  This week, they will learn about camera angles, locations, special effects, story boards, casting, and directors.  This week, we will focus on how to write the script itself (format), transportation, props, music, lighting, and wardrobe.

On Wednesday, 65% of the Seventh Graders scored very high on their History Test.  Those who scored low or failed the test, admitted that they did not study for it.  Please encourage your child to study for the next History Test, or their overall score will be negatively affected.  This week in history, the Seventh Graders will continue to learn about the Middle Ages from the book, Medieval Chronicles.  They will also continue their study of Modern Europe, in their history books.  In addition to this, they will watch a documentary on the Smart Board about the Middle Ages.

Reminder: The will be a special Mass on Friday, November 7, to honor and celebrate the life of our beloved and precious Mrs. Betty Bush.  It will take place in the chapel at 11:00A.M.  All are welcome to attend.

The homework for this coming week is as follows:

  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 6 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 6 of Wordly Wise.
  • Start to think about the plot for your screenplay.
  • Write the history definitions and questions into your history notebook.
  • Prepare for the Litery Terms Test on Monday, November 10.

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead!
