Happy Halloween!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

Thankfully, the ITBS Testing is finished, and the Seventh Graders have survived in tact.  Well done, Seventh Graders!

We are still waiting on our next book order to arrive from Barnes and Noble.  In the meantime, we will continue to read “The Lady of Shalott.” In addition to this, I have one page of Hamlet to read aloud.  Then, we will discuss the story and there will be a follow up quiz/test to reinforce the storyline and its characters.  This week, we will return to Literary Terms, as we continue our daily work in the classroom workbooks.  The “Heroic Poems,” based on Beowulf,  are due on Thursday, October 30.

The next History Test (Chapter 15) will be given on Wednesday, October 29.  Please encourage your child to follow my directions in their studies for this test.  Thank you!  There will be no Wordly Wise homework, in order to give your child time to focus on the History Test.  This week in history, we will read Chapter 16, which focuses on Early Modern Europe.

Reminder: The Parent/Teacher conferences are on Monday, October 27 and Friday, November 7.  I look forward to meeting with you then.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Study for the History Test of Chapter 15, for Wednesday, October 29.
  • The “Heroic Poems” are due on Thursday, October 30.
  • Some students need to turn in their Analysis/Outlines of Beowulf.  They are now very late!

Children have more need of models than of critics.  ~ Joseph Joubert

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
