Student Council Campaign Week!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU for the lovely birthday cards, stunning earrings, the Celtic Knot scent diffuser, the “Raven box,” the Starbucks cards, the delicious cake, the colorful balloons, and the great classroom decorations that you showered on me for my birthday, on Thursday.  I felt much loved and very spoiled.  You made my day!  Thank you!♥

I am happy to report that all the Eighth Graders scored extremely high on their spelling/vocabulary test this past week.  Most of them did a great job on their Wordly Wise homework, too.  Some students need to give more time to Wordly Wise.  This past week, I added a punctuation workbook to the classroom workbooks.  In addition to this, we watched Episode III of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen  This coming week, we will continue to read Animal Farm by George Orwell, and work in the daily workbooks.

The first History Test will take place on Wednesday, September 24.  In addition to this, we will read Chapter 2 of our history book, which covers with the Great Awakening, independence, and a new nation. Please encourage your child to study for the History Test.  Thank you!

During our religious classes we discussed the concept of “Forgiveness.”  This coming week, we will examine The Ten Commandments.

Reminders:  The Student Council speeches will be delivered in the Serra Center, on Monday afternoon, at 1:45p.m.  You are all very welcome to join us.  The voting for Student Council will take place on Friday, September 26.

The theme for the St. Francis Day basket is “Ocktober Fest.”  Thank you for your donations.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Rewrite of Pridr and Prejudice, Episode I is due on Monday.
  • Please study for the History Test on Wednesday, September 24.
  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 3 in Wordly Wise, on Friday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 3 of Wordly Wise, for Friday.
