Welcome Back to School 7th Graders!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

THANK YOU to all the parents who attended our Orientation Night/Back to School Night, last Tuesday evening.  It was lovely to see and chat with you all again.  Your children all appear to be very happy and have settled in nicely to their school routine.  They have all grown and matured during their summer vacation.

THANK YOU also to those parents who supplied Starbucks coffee and bagels and cream cheese, for the teachers on Tuesday morning.  It was very thoughtful of you!

This past week has been too short and has moved too fast.  However, we are on the path of our Seventh Grade curriculum.  We began our reading of Beowulf by Robert Nye, and my students are definitely enjoying it.

This coming week, the Seventh Graders will commence work in their grammar workbooks and journals.  In addition to this, I will read aloud many myths and legends in preparation for their first writing assignment, Write a Myth or a Legend.

We started Chapter 1 of their Social Studies book.  I look forward to a very positive and productive new school year with your children.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Thank you.

The following is the homework for this coming week:

  • Study for the spelling and vocabulary test of Lesson 1 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Write up the history definitions and questions/answers from Chapter 1 of the history book.
  • Read several chapters of a book of choice.  Please remember that reading is food for the brain.

The mind is a fire to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled.  ~ Plutarch

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
