Graduation Mass!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

Summer is fast approaching, as we move towards the end of our school year…just two more weeks left!  You have been a very chatty class, but you have worked very hard this past school year, and I am so happy with your academic growth and progress.  I am very proud of you!  Great job, Sixth Graders!♥

Sadly, O.M.M.S. students, faculty, staff, and parents will honor and say “Goodbye” to our wonderful Eighth Graders, at our final school Mass for this school year, on Friday, June 6.♥  We wish them all great success and happiness, as they move forward into the next chapter of their education…high school.  We will miss them, but we will continue to treasure and love them forever.♥

This week in literature, we will discuss the theme, characters, and plot of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare.  In addition to this, they will continue to work on finishing their grammar, analogies, and punctuation classroom workbooks.  I am happy to report that all the Sixth Graders scored A+’s on the Literary Terms Test last Thursday.  On Thursday, we will finish watching Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, for literature on DVD.

This week in history, the Sixth Graders will finish reading Chapter 11, which focuses on “Chinese Society and Thought.”  The last History Test will be given on Wednesday, June 4.  No stress…open book and notes will be permitted, as a gift for working hard this year.

This is the last week for homework!  Yahoo!  The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Five pages in Keys To Good Language for Wednesday, June 4.
  • Many “Stage Play” rewrites are past due.
  • Please turn in any other rewrites that are past due.  Many thanks!

Reminders!

  • The Seventh Grade play A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, will be performed on Monday evening, June 2, in the St. Francis Hall (McKeon Center), at 6:30p.m.  I have asked the Sixth Graders to attend, if possible, so they may get an idea of what part they might like to play next year.  Anthony, Dakota, and Kyle are performing in this play, due to a shortage of students in the Seventh Grade class.
  • The Graduation Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, at 11:00a.m., in the chapel.
  • Ice cream will be sold for $1, during the lunch period, on Thursday, June 5.
  • The work from your child’s file will go home on Friday, June 6.  Please sign and return the empty envelope to me, on June 9.  Many thanks!
  • The Student Council party will take place on Monday, June 9, after the Awards Assembly.
  • School Reports will be mailed out from the office, on Tuesday, June 17.

Enjoy your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead!

Cheers,
