May Madness!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

The school year is marching on quickly, as we all see the beach on the horizon.  However, there is still much to cover academically before this month ends.

This week in literature, the Seventh Graders will discuss the themes and characters in The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.  In addition to this, they will work on finishing their “in class” workbooks, including their homework, grammar workbooks by the end of this month.  This past week, the Seventh Graders scored extremely high on the Literary Terms Test.  Well done, Seventh Graders! We will return to the Literary Terms list again this week.  This past week, we blocked two scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and all my actors and actresses were great!  However, we have A LOT more work to do yet, but I feel very confident that the Seventh Graders will be FANTASTIC on the night of the performance (Monday, June 2).

This week in history, we will prepare for the History Test of Chapter 13, which will take place on Wednesday, May 14.  In addition to this, we will watch a documentary about Japan, on the Smart Board, to enhance our study of Japanese culture.

Reminder:

The annual Variety Show will take place in the Serra Center, on Thursday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m.  All are welcome to attend.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Review spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 6 in Wordly Wise, on Thursday.
  • Finish your presentations of “people of the Enlightenment,” for Friday.
  • Finish writing up the history notes for Chapter 13.
  • Study the history notes for History Test 13.
  • Please memorize your lines for A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The child is truly a miraculous being, and this should be felt deeply by the educator.  ~ Dr. Maria Montessori

Enjoy the your weekend and have a GRAND week ahead.

Cheers,

Miss Susan
