April Showers Bring May Flowers!

Dear Sixth Grade Parents and Students,

This week in literature, the Sixth Graders will continue to read Tunes For Bears To Dance To by Robert Cormier.  In addition to this, we will review for the Literary Terms Test (Part 1), which will be given on Thursday, April 10.  There will be no review spelling/vocabulary test, in order to give time to study for the Literary Terms Test.  Please encourage your child to study for this test.  Many Thanks!  The Sixth Graders will also work in their classroom workbooks for grammar, analogies, and punctuation.  For homework, I have assigned four pages per student in Keys To Good Language, Book 6.  We have worked in this book in class, so my students are ready to use it for homework.

I am very happy to report that 90% of the class scored mostly A/A+’s and a couple of B+’s, on last Thursday’s History Test.  Great job, Sixth Graders!  I am so proud of you!  This week in history, the Sixth Graders will finish reading Chapter 8, which focuses on Buddhism.  In addition to this, they will watch videos on the Smart Board to enhance their study of Buddhism.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Four pages in Keys To Good Language, Book 6, for Wednesday.
  • Study for the Literary Terms Test (Part 1) on Thursday.
  • Write up the history definitions from Chapter 8 into your history notebooks.

Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence, and of the greater possibilities of their future.                  ~ Maria Montessori

Enjoy your weekend and have a grand week ahead!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
