Welcome back, Miss Lida!

Dear Seventh Grade Parents and Students,

This week, there will be great excitement with the return of Miss Lida to O.M.M.S., but we will miss Mrs. Turrito (Mrs. T.) who did a wonderful job in teaching Science, during Miss Lida’s absence.  THANK YOU, Mrs. Turrito!  WELCOME BACK, Miss Lida!

This week in literature, the Seventh Graders will continue to read Inside the Walls of Troy by Clemence McLaren.  There will be a Literary Terms Test on Wednesday, December 11, so please encourage your child to study for this test.  Thank you.  In addition to this, the Seventh Graders will work in their various language arts workbooks.  Tomorrow, I will start to work on the Seventh Graders’ screenplays, so I am looking forward to reading them.  The next writing assignment will be titled, “Design a Magazine.”

This week in history, the Seventh Graders will finish reading Chapter 18 about “The Reformation.”  In addition to this, they will review for their next History Test on Wednesday, December 18, which is the last History Test before our Christmas break. Please remind them to study for this test, once they have completed their Literary Terms Test.  Thank you.

Reminders:  Once again, we will be collecting food items for our adopted family for Christmas.  In addition to this, each child is asked to donate one gift for a member of our adopted family.  We have a single father and three boys, aged three, five, and six years.  I will ask your children to sign up for a gift on Monday.  THANK YOU in advance for your generosity.

Mass will be celebrated in the Serra Center on Monday, December 9.  It is the feast of the Immaculate Conception.  Please remind your child to wear his/her Mass uniform. Thank you.

The Sixth Graders will perform A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, on Monday evening in St. Francis Hall (formally The McKeon Center), at 6:30p.m.  All are welcome to attend and support the wonderful Sixth Graders.

The homework for this coming week is as follows:

  • Study for the Literary Terms Test on Wednesday, December 11.
  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 13 in Wordly Wise on Thursday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 13 of Wordly Wise.
  • Write up the history definitions and notes, if you haven’t done so already.

Always in our presentation, we must give something which does not exceed the child’s power, and yet, at the same time, calls forth effort.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a grand week ahead!
