Thank You!

Dear Eighth Grade Parents and Students,

I trust that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends, and that you will enjoy what remains of this Thanksgiving weekend.  I wish a safe trip home to all our families who will have to brave the heavy holiday traffic on Sunday.

THANK YOU to all our parents who donated food items for our Thanksgiving basket. Many families had a delicious dinner this past holiday because of your generous hearts.  THANK YOU also to all of my Eighth Graders and Jimmy Spong who collected and delivered the Thanksgiving baskets to Social Concerns and the Military drop zone. They worked together in effective teams and were wonderful.  In addition to this, they made a new record with respect to the time in which they completed the job. Well done!  I am so proud of you!

This coming week in literature, the Eighth Graders will continue to read Night by Elie Wiesel.  In addition to this, they will work in their grammar, punctuation, and comprehension workbooks.  They will have a Literary Terms Test on Thursday, so please encourage your child to study for this test.  Thank you.

This week in history, the Eighth Graders will continue to read The Constitution.

This week, during our religious studies, the Eighth Graders will explore how the Catholic Church grew, Christian martyrs, the Council of Jerusalem, and The Magisterium.

The homework for this week is as follows:

  • Study for the Literary Terms Test on Thursday.
  • Rewrite of Episode VI of Pride and Prejudice is due on Thursday.
  • Spelling/vocabulary test of Lesson 12 in Wordly Wise on Friday.
  • Complete all the exercises in Lesson 12 of Wordly Wise for Friday.
  • Animal Farm paper is due on Friday, December 6.

Books are the bees that carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind.  ~ James Russell Lowell

Have a grand week ahead!

Cheers,

Miss Susan
